I know there has been a huge amount of back and forth lately about the merits, or lack therof, of the latest incarnation of our old friends. Opinions seem pretty evenly split over the issue. Well, instead of weighing in on the issue and adding to the contentious nature of the topic, I have decided instead to talk about something most of us can agree with:

Cape Cod 79 was freakin' immense.

Why, you ask? Well, let me tell you. As I was checking out "This Just In", I saw a new SBD from the show, which is in and of itself OK, but then I noticed that there had also been a recent upload of a MATRIX of the show. Well, for those who know me, I became all goose-pimply at the prospect of one of my faves in a new medium. And, yes, it is more than tasty. Is it better then either of the two sources drawn upon? I'll leave that up to you. For me, any excuse to revist this Monster of a second set is a reason for jubilation. If you can't get to it tonight, by all means bookmark it for tommorrow. This shit never gets old.

It's been too long since I ravaged a chair, and this one took out 5.

You're as bad with that show as I am with 6/25/85 at Blossom!

Yep.

But I will say again that this one is not one of the better ones as pointed out earlier. The potential is there for hugeness, perhaps someone else might give it a try in the future (hint, hint).

SDH - nice to see you posting again, not that I've been here everyday. Anyway, hope all is well w/ you out there in the desert. I need some "me" time here at my desk right now so I think I'll give this matrix a listen.

Later Dude

Agree on the synch issues popping up here and there (check the start of BEW for a good example), but for me they don't significantly take away from the overall impact of the gig. Will it take the place of the SBD I've been listening to for the past few years? Probably not, but I'm just happy for another excuse to crank a favorite.

Thanks for the tip; I'll have to try this one out. I've always been partial to my trusty aud of this show because you can really "feel" that Other One intro hit the crowd right in the chest.
